Ain Karem visit & Sattaf hike
عن هذه الجولة
Ain Karem was a Palestinian town, south of Jerusalem, until it was depopulated in 1948. Unlike most of the villages around Jerusalem it was not destroyed. Today's population consists of Jewish Israelis. The town is known to be the birthplace of John the Baptist and it has several churches dedicated to him. We will explore the town, the churches and Saint Mary's well. Then we will continue to another town that was demolished in 1948 and we will hike in the area where they had their agricultural lands. We will see the spring they used and the water pool as well as some ruins of the houses. The nature in this area is particularly beautiful in spring time when many flowers are blooming. You will see a lot of native trees like olives, almonds, pomegranate, fig trees and carob trees. You can decide whether you want to have lunch in Ain Karem in a restaurant (not included in the tour price) or if you prefer to bring some picnic lunch to eat before the hike in Sattaf. Minimum 5 participants or minimum 350 dollar Meeting point at Mount Herzl (light rail stop)
